IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC ON OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCYOF BIOLOGY TEACHERS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EDE NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, OSUN STATE

 

 

                                                            ABSTRACT

This study examined the impact of coronavirus pandemic on operational efficiency of Biology teachers in secondary schools in Ede North Local Government Area Osun State. The characteristic used for the study are senior secondary school Biology teachers in public schools in Ede community and environs. Ten public secondary schools were randomly selected in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State. Twenty (20) respondents were used for the study. A questionnaire containing 22 items was used to obtain information from the Biology teachers in the study areas. The questionnaire was divided into two sections (A and B). Section A of the questionnaire was designed to obtain the personal data of the respondents with regard to sex, age, teaching, qualification, teaching experience and so on. Section B consisted of 18 structural questions about coronavirus pandemic and operational efficiency among senior secondary school Biology teachers. The data collected were analyzed using, Chi-square. Test for significance was carried out at the 0.05 level of probability. The results of the study revealed that there is significant relationship between coronavirus pandemic and operational efficiency of Biology teachers in senior secondary schools. The study also affirmed that coronavirus pandemic can significantly influence performance and operational efficiency of Biology teachers in senior secondary schools in Nigeria. On the basis of the findings of this study, it is the recommendations of the investigation that effective means of handling the spread of coronavirus in our educational sector should be well established among senior secondary schools teachers across the nation. In addition Government should provide enough funds in order to control, manage and cater for the protection and treatment of coronavirus pandemic among teachers in our schools.

THE INFLUENCE OF DEBOARDING EXERCISE ON THE LEARNING OF BIOLOGY AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SABON GARI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KADUNASTATE

 

 

 

 

ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this research is to determine the influence of de-boarding exercise on the learning of biology among Senior Secondary Schools Students in SabonGari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The population of the study consisted of all SS IlI Students in all the Secondary Schools in SabonGari local Government Area of Kaduna State. There are fourty four secondary schools in this Local Government Area. A total of four secondary schools were selected from the population. Three research questions were formulated and three hypotheses tested. Complete WASCE results were collected from 2017-2022 and analyzed using t-test statistical techniques. The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the mean scores of boarding and day students’ academic performance in senior secondary school WASCE Biology. There is a significant difference between the scores of male boarding and male day students’ academic performance in senior secondary school WASCE Biology. i.e. the academic performance of male boarding students is higher than that of male day students. And there is a significant difference in the academic performance of female boarding and female day students in senior secondary school WASCE Biology i.e. the female boarding students’ academic performance is higher than the female day students in senior secondary school WASCE Biology. Based on the finding, the following recommendations were made to help improve the situation: Government action on de-boarding school system should be stopped as the findings of this study have shown that boarding system enhanced students’ performance in science and biology in particular. Government should make funds available to the Ministry of Education and appropriate quarters for conversion of existing day secondary schools to Boarding Secondary Schools. In area where there is not enough funds for conversion of day schools to boarding schools, school authorities should make effort to get accommodation for students very close to the school environment. Private enterprises should be invited operate accommodation systems near day schools to supplement Government efforts toward de-boarding of day secondary schools who cares for the students.

Baby plays with massive python

34 year old snake handler, Jamie Guarino, filmed his 14 month old daughter, Alyssa, playing with their family pet, a 10 year old 13ft Burmese python called Nay-Nay. This Python is one of the five largest snakes in the world. The snake handler said he filmed the video with his baby girl at their home in Michigan to educate people about snakes and how harmless they can be. Someone should please come get this child.

AirAsia flight found upside down at the bottom of the sea.

Indonesian search officials have now confirmed they have located the fuselage of AirAsia flight 8501 on sonar radar, upside down on the sea floor, not far from where three of the bodies from the doomed AirAsia flight were found holding hands when discovered floating in the Java Sea. Officials from Basarnas, Indonesia's search and rescue agency, say the plane wreckage has been located in 24 to 30 metres of water and one of the seven confirmed recovered bodies was wearing a life jacket. 

OH GOD!!! THIS IS TERRIBLE.
